(IDG) -- MP3.com has launched a service allowing users to create their own fully interactive music stations consisting of songs from the site's database, the company said. The system, under which 4,000 stations were created during its two-week beta test, allows users to pick songs from the database of 200,000 tunes and 35,000 artists and set up their own "radio station."
Other users can then go to that station's Web page and select which tracks they want to listen to, and in what order, according to a company statement.

MP3.com, one of the powerhouses of the online MP3 world, is about to face some competition. Last month, Seagram's Universal Music Group announced it will also launch a Web site dedicated to discovering and signing unsigned bands. The site, called FarmClub.com, is set for launch on Feb. 1.
