Suspect in custody after school shooting in Oklahoma
December 6, 1999 FORT GIBSON, Oklahoma (CNN) -- Police took a shooting suspect into custody Monday morning after children were wounded at a middle school in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma, police said. The Associated Press reported three children were shot.
"The incident is over. We're trying to get everything secured," a police spokesman said. School Superintendent Steve Wilmoth said the shooting took place outside and possibly inside the middle school shortly before 8 a.m.
He didn't know the condition of the students. Fort Gibson is a town of about 3,500 about 50 miles southeast of Tulsa.
