Today's buzz stories:
Photographer sues Streisand and BrolinLOS ANGELES, California -- A photographer accused of stalking Barbra Streisand and James Brolin is suing the duo for conspiring with police to have him unlawfully jailed.
Wendell Wall, 28, who lives down the street from the couple's Malibu home, was arrested in January on suspicion of stalking Streisand. He was held for three days in lieu of a $1 million bond before a judge dismissed his case, citing a "lack of evidence of a credible threat." In a lawsuit filed Tuesday in Los Angeles Superior Court, Wall says his arrest was "committed with evil motive and intent and in callous, reckless and wanton disregard" of his civil rights. The suit names as defendants Streisand, Brolin, the L.A. County Sheriff's Department and several deputies. Streisand and Brolin issued a statement Wednesday denying they had ever "requested his incarceration." Queen Elizabeth knights Michael Caine
LONDON, England -- The man who would be king is now a knight. Oscar-winning British actor Michael Caine, whose real name is Maurice Mickelwhite, was knighted Thursday by Queen Elizabeth. Caine, who starred in "The Man Who Would Be King" in 1975 as well as an array of other films, described himself as "quietly ecstatic" at the honor. "It's one of those things where you don't shout and cheer or anything like that, but you get a warm glow any time you think about it," he told Sky Television after the ceremony at Buckingham Palace. Caine, 67, has appeared in more than 100 films and has won two Oscars, the second awarded this year for his role in "The Cider House Rules." He won his first for "Hannah and Her Sisters" (1986). He was knighted under his real name, but has chosen to be known as Sir Michael Caine. ABC going online with 'Dot Comedy'HOLLYWOOD, California -- Primetime is going online next month at ABC. The network is premiering "Dot Comedy" a reality show based on the British series of the same name. The series, hosted by brothers Jason and Randy Sklar ("Apartment 2F") and Annabelle Gurwitch ("Dinner and a Movie"), will focus on funny online video and Web sites. "It's one of those ideas that seemed like a no-brainer," said Stu Bloomberg, co-chairman of ABC Entertainment Television Group. "It seemed like the next generation of 'America's Funniest Home Videos." The show will get a second, non-primetime run on co-producer Oxygen's cable outlet after each ABC airing.
