Competitors seek post-'Survivor' celebrity

The island adventure is over and all survivors are back on dry land. What's next for these prime-time players?

NEW YORK (CNN) -- The show's over, but we probably haven't seen the last of Rich, Kelly and the rest of the "Survivor" gang.

Many of the stars hope to make their 15 minutes of fame last a whole lot longer, and they're off to a good start.

Sean Kenniff, the Long Island neurologist, will make a guest appearance on "Guiding Light" in October, and has been hired as a medical correspondent for the syndicated magazine show "Extra."

Gervase Peterson didn't win the big prize, but he hopes he might find it another way. So far, he has landed a spot on the sitcom "The Hughleys," and he just auditioned for John Travolta's new film "Swordfish."

"If I can do it through TV, endorsements, anything, that would be great," he said.

Million-dollar winner Richard Hatch got some additional exposure when he teamed up with the other finalists -- ex-Navy SEAL Rudy Boesch, truck driver Susan Hawk and river guide Kelly Wiglesworth -- in one of the familiar "Got Milk?" ads.

And Reebok has nabbed two of the early rejects for its ads, including third castoff Stacey Stillman and 64-year-old B.B. Andersen, whose spot surfaced during the show's finale.

Jenna Lewis hasn't gotten any acting offers yet, but she and Colleen Haskell reportedly turned down an invitation to pose for Playboy magazine. Acid-tongued Hawk, meanwhile, told Newsweek that she hasn't ruled out posing nude elsewhere.

Some viewer favorites like Haskell, a Miami Beach advertising student, say they're ready for a regular life.

"Right now, I have to finish school," she said. "I have another year left and I'm back in school and back to life."

Like a lot of the cast, Tennessee homemaker Gretchen Cordy made a brief appearance on "The Late Show with David Letterman," but she thinks the fame is fleeting.

"I think it'll be such a temporary thing that next year at this time -- remember when, remember when I was on that show `Survivor'?"
