ABC takes top honors in news and documentary Emmys

NEW YORK (AP) -- ABC took top honors in the annual News and Documentary Emmy Awards, earning 11 awards and easily outdistancing CBS and NBC.

CBS and NBC tied for second with six awards apiece, and PBS earned five. The prizes for work done during the 1999 calendar year were awarded Wednesday night by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences at the 21th annual awards ceremony at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York.
