GTS expands European broadband Net services
(IDG) -- Global TeleSystems Group (GTS) is rolling out Dedicated Internet Access (DIA) services across Europe, the broadband Internet network and service operator announced Monday.
The dedicated, high-speed service is being launched in the U.K., France, Germany, Belgium, Ukraine, Russia, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland and Hungary, GTS said in a statement. The DIA service, which has broadband capabilities, is targeted at electronic business customers and is the first in a number of new Internet protocol-based services to be launched this quarter, GTS said.
The new offerings will include secure Internet-based VPN (virtual private network), intranet and extranet services, business-to-business connectivity and Web-enabled business applications, including online customer service options. GTS began building Web hosting facilities in the European capitals of London, Paris, Amsterdam and Frankfurt last October. Seventeen additional European countries, including the Netherlands, Sweden, Ireland, Norway, Spain, Italy and Denmark, will become part of the DIA service area by the end of this year, GTS said.
