(Ratings are on a scale of 1-10; 10 = best score)

Casio MP3 watch

  • Cost: $249 (32M byte version)

  • What it does: Place up to 32M bytes of MP3 music onto your watch. Connects to your PC via USB. Perfect for jogging, extreme mobility saves on other bulky gadgets.

  • Coolness factor: 10

  • Ease of use: 8

  • Business usage: Watch that doubles as an MP3 music player can be great for mobile warriors who don't want to lug around another device. However, only 32M bytes of music won't last long during a long plane trip.

  • D'Music MP3/CD player from Pine Technology

      ALSO

  • Cost: $198.95

  • What it does: Portable CD player that reads MP3 files, so you can transfer all of the MP3 files directly onto a CD without converting them to WAV or other formats. Also shows the name and title of the song on the display.

  • Coolness factor: 5

  • Ease of use: 8 (9 if you already know how to transfer MP3 files to a CD-R or CD-RW disk)

    MusicMatch Jukebox

  • Cost: Free, or $19.99 for the Plus Version

  • What it does: A program to record, organize, and play all of your digital music. The Plus Version includes features like creating your own CD covers, burning CDs 12 times faster, and ripping Mp3s 25% faster. The Auto DJ feature allows you to organize and play songs for hours on end without being near the computer.

  • Coolness Factor: 8. This is one of the best programs to play, record, and manage your digital music collection. It has cool functions that no other program like it has, such as the Auto DJ feature. But the endless dialog boxes can get annoying.

  • Ease of Use: 7; Simple, just scan hard drive for music, click, and play. Organizing your playlists can get a little difficult, but it's not a considerable problem.

  • Philips Rush Mp3 Player

  • Cost: $399

  • What it does: Basically, its just like every other MP3 player. Upload your songs to it, press "play" and listen to glistening skip-free audio.

  • Factor: 7. Cool design, and we loved the carrying case and the headphones. But there's no internal memory, just a 32M-byte Smartmedia card.

  • Ease of Use: 8. You can just upload songs through RealJukebox, but the Smartmedia cards get a little annoying (especially when you put them in upside down.)
