Bush clan celebrates Easter
CRAWFORD, Texas (CNN) -- President Bush made his first public appearance since Thursday when he ventured out of his ranch to attend a sunrise Easter service at Canaan Baptist Church. Bush was accompanied by his parents, former President George Bush and Barbara Bush, wife, Laura, daughter Jenna, mother-in-law, Jenna Welch, and brother Marvin. The Bushes heard a sermon titled "The Resurrection of Sunrise Hope," which listed 10 reasons why people should believe that Jesus arose from the dead, a woman who attended the service said. The outdoor service, which lasted almost an hour and was attended by several dozen people, closed with a benediction that gave a nod to Bush for the return of the service personnel who had been detained in China. "We also celebrate this morning, Lord, the fine young men and women who are home this morning in America celebrating Easter with their families and not in China," prayed church official Jerry Gauer. "We want to thank President Bush and his staff for all these negotiations." At the close of the service, the former and current first families posed for pictures and signed autographs for worshipers for about 25 minutes. Barbara Bush also entertained a group of small children by letting them pet her dog, Sadie. RELATED STORIES: Easter calm in Cincinnati RELATED SITES:
