4 arrested in Irish terror probe

DUBLIN, Ireland -- Four men have been arrested in Dublin as part of an investigation into the activities of international terrorist groups, police said.

Detectives from Ireland's Middle Eastern Section of the Special Detective Unit detained the four after raiding five premises in the south of the city on Tuesday morning.

The men, who are aged between 24 and 39, are being held under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act

Police did not comment on whether the arrests were directly related to the September 11 attacks on the United States.

State broadcaster RTE said three of the men were Libyans and the fourth Algerian.

A police statement said: "As part of an ongoing investigation into international terrorism, four males, all non-nationals, were arrested this morning on the south side of Dublin."
