Michael Jackson limps into the UK
LONDON, England -- Pop megastar Michael Jackson has arrived in Britain to give a lecture on child welfare. The singer arrived at London's Heathrow Airport on Sunday nursing a damaged leg. The 'King of Pop,' renowned for his famous "moonwalk" dance, is in a plaster cast following a fall at his California ranch. "It's very painful," he told reporters. "I've broken two bones in my foot and it hurts." On Tuesday he will deliver a lecture to The Oxford Union debating society on the subject of child welfare. His appearance follows that of O.J. Simpson, Sinn Fein leader Gerry Adams, and Malcom X. Jackson's speech will focus on his charity, Heal the Kids, which he set up in 2000 with Rabbi Schmuely Botech, 42, author of 'Kosher Sex' and 'The Jewish Guide to Adultery.' The organisation, a subsidiary of Jackson's Heal the World Foundation, is dedicated to "promoting nurturing relationships between parents and children." It counts former Israeli Prime Minister Shimon Peres, and screen icon Elizabeth Taylor as board members. In 1993 Jackson made a cash payment to the parents of a 13-year old boy who claimed he had abused their son, allegations he strongly denied. During his UK visit, the singer will also act as best man at the wedding of psychic Uri Geller and make an appearance at the 10th annual Michael Jackson Day at London's Appollo Theatre.
