Israeli troops enter Palestinian camp, face resistanceJERUSALEM (CNN) -- Israeli bulldozers and tanks entered a Palestinian refugee camp early Thursday in southern Gaza, exchanging fire with Palestinians there, sources on both sides said.
The buildings were in a "pink area" near the Israeli-Egypt border, defined by the Oslo peace accords as being under Israel security and civilian control, according to the Israeli sources. These sources said their troops were fired upon with anti-tank grenades and that they responded with light fire. The sources said one Israeli soldier was slightly wounded. Palestinian military sources told CNN Israeli tanks and bulldozers entered the refugee camp in the Palestinian autonomous Rafah region from three directions, and faced stiff resistance. There was tank shelling and heavy shooting, these sources said. RELATED STORIES:
