JERUSALEM (CNN) -- The Palestine Red Crescent Society said Israeli gunfire killed a 9-year-old boy and wounded a 10-year-old boy Sunday in Tulkarem.

The Israeli Defense Forces said there was a clash with stone throwers in Tulkarem, but that Israeli forces used non-lethal force to disperse the crowd.

There was no use of live ammunition or tank fire, the IDF said, adding it was investigating the reported casualties.

In a separate incident Saturday evening, Palestinian sources said a 9-year-old Palestinian girl was killed when Israeli forces fired into her Gaza home.

The Israeli fire came from Gush Katif, a block of Jewish settlements in southern Gaza, and went toward Khan Yunis, a refugee camp, the sources said.

Israeli military sources said Palestinians opened fire at a military post in Khan Yunis and that the Israeli forces returned fire. The soldiers reported that they did not hit any targets.
