Story Tools

TOKYO, Japan (Reuters) -- Mazda Motor, the smallest of Japan's top five auto makers, says it expects to sell 245,000 cars in Europe this business year, raising its outlook from 239,000 units forecast in July.

Global sales for the year to March 31 are seen at 1.06 million vehicles, higher than the 1.053 million previously forecast.

Mazda, owned one-third by Ford Motor, on Thursday lowered its projection for North American sales for the year to 330,000 units from 335,000 and for Japan to 294,000 from 299,000.

It bumped up its forecast for sales in other regions to 191,000 from 180,000.

Shares in Mazda are steady at 295 yen at the end of the morning session Thursday.
