LOS ANGELES, California (CNN) -- Actress Bridget Fonda was hospitalized Thursday following a car accident, her publicist and sheriff's officials told CNN.
Los Angeles County Sheriff Sgt. Ken Scheurn said Fonda lost control of her 1998 Jaguar at 7:20 a.m. PST (10:20 a.m. EST) on the Pacific Coast Highway in heavy rain.
Scheurn said the vehicle was totaled, and Fonda, 39, was transported to UCLA Medical Center with minor injuries.
He said there was no indication drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash, and called it a weather-related incident. However, he said, the sheriff's department was investigating the accident to decide if a ticket would be issued.
Fonda's publicist, Nancy Seltzer, said the actress "is doing fine."
"We really hope with great expectation that she will be released from the hospital Friday," she said.
Fonda is the granddaughter of actor Henry Fonda, the daughter of actor Peter Fonda and the niece of actress/activist Jane Fonda.
Most recently, Fonda starred in 2001's "Monkeybone" and "Kiss of the Dragon." She is also well known for her roles in 1992's Single White Female and 1991's Doc Hollywood.
