Bowie announces world tour
LONDON, England -- Legendary singer David Bowie is to embark on his first major world tour in nearly a decade, the singer revealed Monday. The rock legend will play to more than one million people in 17 counties during his seven-month tour of worldwide venues. The "Reality Tour"-- named after his forthcoming album "Reality" -- will see Bowie returning to countries he has not performed in since the late 1980s. The tour will begin in Europe, including three dates in the UK, at the beginning of October before moving to North America, Australia and the Far East. It will his first major tour since the hugely successful "Outside World" tour of 1995. Bowie has only played intimate one-off live concerts in Europe in recent years. "Last year's shows were such a tremendous high and the audiences so responsive," the singer said on his Web site. "My band is playing at the top of its form right now and it would be foolish not to play a tour this year while we're in good spirits about the live show aspect of our work." Bowie will kick-off his tour in Copenhagen, Denmark, on October 7 followed by concerts in Stockholm, Sweden, on October 8; Helsinki, Finland, on October 10; Oslo, Norway, on October 12, Rotterdam, Netherlands, on October 15; Milan, Italy, on October 23 before moving to the UK. Details of UK concerts include, MEN Arena Manchester, on November 17, Birmingham NEC, on November 19, The Point in Dublin, on November 22 and Wembley Arena, London, on November 25. Tickets for the UK shows go on sale June 20.
