(CNN) -- A feast of Crow -- and Crows. A flight of Eagles. A set to Bragg about, No Doubt.
"Tommy" can you hear me? Better than ever -- and Elton John's "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" has never sounded so golden.
Also, a collection of newly cleaned-up Dylan and some old Celtic Christmas carols.
The choices for boxed sets and greatest hits this holiday season are varied in both style and substance, but there's no question that something will sound good for somebody.
Technology has helped. Several releases are now available on the new SACD format, and when record companies clean up classics, the improved audio trickles down to standard CD (for the vast majority of us loath to buy yet another piece of technology, given that we're still paying off last year's DVD machines and the year before that's MP3 and iPod players).
CNN listened to a variety of 2003 releases and offers the following suggestions.
