Georgia complete World Cup winless
SYDNEY, Australia (Reuters) -- Georgia left their inaugural World Cup without a win after being beaten 24-12 by Uruguay in a pool B encounter heavy on brawn and light on subtlety.
Uruguay controlled the match to score three tries without reply.
Georgia had high hopes after an impressive 46-19 defeat against South Africa but they rarely threatened in a game dominated by the big men.
Winger Alfonso Cardoso scored on the overlap in the 23rd minute after Uruguay had battered the Georgia line and hooker Diego Lamelas pealed off a driving maul to score the second after 57 minutes.
The move of the game, with two minutes left, ended with replacement second rower Nicolas Brignoni crashing over after a fine step inside by centre and captain Diego Aguire.
Uruguay end their campaign against England on Sunday. It was their second World Cup win after beating Spain in 1999.
