Champions Juve top Serie A again
MILAN, Italy (Reuters) -- Goals from Marco Di Vaio and Pavel Nedved gave Italian champions Juventus a 2-0 victory at Reggina in Serie A on Saturday.
The win sends Juventus clear at the top of the table on 10 points from four games.
Di Vaio, leading the attack in the absence of the injured Alessandro Del Piero and David Trezeguet, opened the scoring from close range on 13 minutes. Nedved made it 2-0 five minutes after the restart.
It was the Czech star's cross that set up Di Vaio for the opener after Reggina keeper Emanuele Belardi failed to deal with his low cross.
Nedved scored his goal with a smart finish following a swift counter-attack from Marcello Lippi's side.
Reggina twice struck the woodwork and Juve keeper Gianluigi Buffon had to make two good saves from Reggina's Honduran substitute Julio Cesar Leon in the latter stages, but the victory never looked in doubt.
Inter Milan had the chance to join Juventus on 10 points but held on for a scoreless draw at Udinese in a later game on Saturday.
Udinese midfielder David Pizarro missed a 66th-minute penalty as the north-eastern side failed to make the most of the 17th-minute dismissal of Inter's Brazilian winger Luciano.
