NYON, Switzerland (Reuters) -- UEFA's Professional Football Committee (PFC) has proposed an exchange programme allowing top referees to take charge of league matches outside their own country.
Italy's Pierluigi Collina and other senior referees from nations represented on the PFC would be placed in charge of specific games in the domestic competition of other PFC members.
The PFC is made up of the Premier Professional Football Leagues of Belgium, Denmark, England, France, Germany, Italy, Scotland and Spain.
PFC members also discussed FIFA's ongoing review of transfer regulations and the possibility of creating a "social dialogue" between European domestic leagues and representatives of club employees.
"For professional football in Europe, today's meeting was an important step forward for the Leagues and all of our member clubs," said Pedro Toms, chairman of the PFC.
"In particular, we are working very hard on providing input to the ongoing review of the transfer system.
"Also, the suggestion by UEFA to the National Associations and Professional Leagues of the chance to use top international referees from different countries for specific domestic matches is a very interesting one that we will consider going forward."
The meeting was also attended by representatives from the associations of the Netherlands, Switzerland, Ukraine and Kazakhstan.
