(CNN) -- Tropical depression Grace, downgraded Sunday from a tropical storm, was dumping heavy rain on the upper Texas coast as it moved inland, the National Weather Service said.
The stormy weather was expected to abate in Texas later in the day. Grace moved into Texas about 10 a.m. EDT around Port O'Connor, preceded by rain and wind on the upper Texas coast. Grace was heading northeast at 15 mph. Tropical storm warnings were lifted late Sunday morning.
Maximum winds had decreased to 35 mph, and the storm was expected to weaken in the next 24 hours.
Up to 6 inches of rain had fallen in Galveston and Harris counties, and up to another 9 inches were possible in parts of eastern Texas and western Louisiana.
Meanwhile, Hurricane Fabian -- with maximum sustained winds of 125 mph -- was expected to pass well north of the Leeward Islands in the next day or two.
The Category-3 hurricane was located 550 miles east of the northern Leeward Islands, and moving westward at 13 mph. No warnings were issued for Fabian.
Another hurricane, Jimena, with winds of 105 mph, was about 500 miles east-southeast of Hilo, Hawaii, and was expected to approach the island Sunday night or Monday, forecasters said. (Full story)
