LAHORE, Pakistan (CNN) -- Five members of various political parties were killed and more than a dozen were injured during nationwide by-elections, parties and police have said.
In Karachi, an unknown gunman opened fire on Muttahida Quami Movement workers who were campaigning on Wednesday. Two were killed, party officials said.
In interior Sindh province, three political workers from the Pakistan Peoples Party were attacked and killed, police said.
Opposition parties have blamed the government for rigging the election. People's Party Parliamentarians Chairman Amin Fahim told CNN reports had come in from all over Pakistan Wednesday about rigging.
He said all opposition parties will gather together soon to forge a new strategy to fight such tactics.
