Counterfeit link to terror probed

LAHORE, Pakistan (CNN) -- Police have arrested three men for allegedly printing and selling fake U.S. dollars and said they were checking to see if they had any links with the al Qaeda terrorist network.
Police said Tuesday Riaz Ahmad and two other men were selling the phony currency to people in Afghanistan and Pakistani tribal areas and that $60,000 in the fake money was seized in the raid that resulted in their arrest.
Lahore Police Chief Khawaja Khalid Farooq told CNN the three men were being questioned and intelligence officials were seeking to determine if they were linked in any way to al Qaeda.
He said they learned how to print fake American dollars in Saudi Arabia.
If convicted as counterfeiters, the suspects could face prison sentences of up to 10 years each under Pakistani law.
