LONDON, England (Reuters) -- American illusionist David Blaine was still suffering stomach cramps and low blood pressure on Wednesday three days after ending a 44-day starvation stunt in a Perspex box next to the River Thames, his doctors said.
Blaine's medical team said they hoped he would eat solids Thursday for the first time since starting his ordeal. They expected him to remain in hospital at least until the weekend, but said his delicate reintroduction to food was going according to plan.
"Mr. Blaine is making a very satisfactory recovery," they said in a statement.
A dirty, unshaven Blaine emerged late Sunday from his see-through prison and broke down sobbing in front of thousands of onlookers.
The televised stunt incurred both admiration and derision from the British public, but is reputed to have earned Blaine several million dollars.
A man will appear in court Thursday charged with hurling pink paint at Blaine's box.
