GAZA CITY (CNN) -- A rocket-propelled grenade struck the main Gaza prison Thursday, critically wounding seven people in what Palestinian military intelligence sources are calling a failed assassination attempt against Musa Arafat, the chief of the Palestinian Authority's military intelligence.
A day earlier, a Palestinian group calling itself Al Aqsa Honor distributed a leaflet in Gaza calling for the killing of Arafat, although it was not clear why the group wanted him targeted.
Arafat is Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat's uncle.
Three people were arrested in relation to Thursday's attack, the sources said.
The prison is near Musa Arafat's office. He was on his way to his office when the attack occurred, and was unharmed.
Witnesses reported hearing two explosions at the prison, which house 540 prisoners including criminals, people suspected of collaborating with Israel, and violators of the agreement three Palestinian radical groups recently struck to stop terrorist attacks against Israelis.
Some of the prisoners have been sentenced to death.
