BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- Two American service members have died in Iraq, U.S. military officials said Friday.

A service member connected with the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force was killed Thursday in Hillah, about 95 kilometers (60 miles) south of Baghdad, according to a military spokesman.

No other details were immediately available.

In a separate incident, a U.S. soldier from the Army's 1st Armored Division died and six others were injured in a fire at a small arms range in Baghdad's Karadah district Thursday afternoon.

Officials said the soldier died from burns and smoke inhalation. The others were taken to military hospitals.

The incident is under investigation, officials said.
