I'm 21 and have just started my first serious job. It is true that that what you wear affects your productivity. I'm am differently less productive while i'm in 'smart casual'. I do not think you can equate changing countries with moving from one part of the US to another. Changing countries involves a lot more, Language, currency, government and culture to day the least.
