Heidfeld and Glock test for Jordan

LONDON, England (Reuters) -- Germany's Nick Heidfeld will test for Jordan on Thursday and Friday after the Formula One team made a troubled start to the week in Barcelona.

Belgian Bas Leinders, among those being assessed for the role of test driver, started his F1 debut on Wednesday by crashing on his first lap out of the pits at the Circuit de Catalunya.

The team built up a second chassis and Leinders, 28, was left with just an hour to do 18 laps at the end of the afternoon.

It was the second setback in two days for the hard-up team, who have yet to name any drivers for the season starting in Australia in March and who are testing for the first time this year.

On Tuesday Germany's Timo Glock went off into gravel on his debut and Jordan also lost some more time due to an engine misfire.

Despite that, Eddie Jordan praised Glock's performance: "For Timo Glock's first time in a Formula One car, to do over 50 laps of a grand prix circuit at the pace he did was very impressive. It would be nice to see if he can build on this."

Glock will test again on Thursday before Heidfeld, who would be Jordan's first choice for the race drive if he can produce some sponsorship, takes over.
