Suggitt named Canada's rugby coach
TORONTO, Canada (Reuters) -- Ric Suggitt has been appointed the new coach of the Canadian rugby union team, Rugby Canada officials said on Tuesday.
He replaces Australian Dave Clark who stood down after the World Cup where Canada lost to Wales, New Zealand and Italy, but ended the tournament with a 24-7 win over Tonga.
Suggitt, from Edmonton, will give up his current role as coach of the Canadian senior women's team but retains his position as the coach of the senior sevens team as well as becoming director of men's rugby.
"The meshing of all the age-grade men's programmes is a priority," Suggitt told the Rugby Canada website.
"Ric's coaching style is well suited to bring out the best of our abilities as Canadian rugby players," said women's international Colette McAuley.
"His knowledge and passion will be inspirational to the men."
