Lara sidelined with finger injury
ST JOHN'S, Antigua (Reuters) -- West Indies captain Brian Lara misses Sunday's first one-day game with England after aggravating a finger injury in his record-breaking 400 innings in the fourth test.
Lara was off the pitch for more than an hour on the final day receiving further treatment to a dislocated finger and doctors have advized him to rest the injury for 10 days.
He definitely sits out the first one-dayer in Guyana and is likely to be out of contention for the second and third matches of the seven-game series.
They will be played back-to-back in Trinidad on April 24 and 25.
In his absence, Ramnaresh Sarwan is set to captain the side in Guyana, although Lara will travel with the squad.
