LONDON, England -- Deportivo La Coruna's Moroccan defender Noureddine Naybet is set to sign a two-year deal with English club Tottenham, Spanish media reported Wednesday.
Veteran Naybet, 34, has been at Deportivo for eight seasons and has one year to run on his contract there.
Tottenham need a replacement for Irish defender Stephen Carr, who is completing a move to Newcastle this week.
The under-performing London side also missed out on the signing of Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy and have a lengthy injury list ahead of the opening of the Premier League campaign on Saturday.
The sports dailies Marca and As put the transfer at one million euros for the former Moroccan international captain, who had previously expressed his desire to play in Qatar.
