Hayden earns pole for Valencia GP
VALENCIA, Spain -- Americans Nicky Hayden and Colin Edwards took the top two positions in the second of two qualifying sessions ahead of Sunday's season-ending Valencia MotoGP.
Hayden, riding for the Repsol Honda team, took 1:33.605 to complete his fastest lap around Valencia's 4.005-kilometer circuit.
Edwards, a Telefonica Movistar Honda rider, posted a fastest time of 1:33.833.
Italy's Valentino Rossi, who has already clinched the world championship this year, was third with a time of 1:34.182.
Fourth place went to Spain's Sete Gibernau with a time of 1:34.298.
Hayden's average speed was 154.03 kilometers per hour.
