Terry withdraws from England squad
LONDON, England -- Central defender John Terry has withdrawn from England's squad for their friendly against Portugal on Wednesday with a shin injury.
"He picked up a shin injury on Sunday and he thought he'd be OK, but as a precaution he hasn't continued his training today," said a team spokesman.
The Chelsea defender will not be replaced, leaving the squad with 22 players.
Earlier, Aston Villa striker Darius Vassell withdrew because of illness.
On Monday, Tottenham Hotspur's Ledley King was called up to replace Arsenal centre back Sol Campbell.
