Tainio injury bad blow for Auxerre

AUXERRE, France (Reuters) -- Auxerre midfield player Teemu Tainio will be out of action between six and eight weeks with an ankle injury, the Ligue 1 club said on Thursday.

The Finn has torn ligaments in his right ankle and will undergo surgery on Friday.

Tainio will miss Auxerre's UEFA Cup fourth round, second leg match at PSV Eindhoven next Thursday.

Auxerre were already without defenders Johan Radet and Philippe Mexes, who will not return to the team for around three weeks.
