Austria Vienna dismiss coach Loew
VIENNA, Austria -- Austrian champions Austria Vienna have sacked coach Joachim Loew following their defeat by bottom side FC Kaernten at the weekend.
German Loew, who took over from Christoph Daum last June, is replaced by club sporting director Guenter Kronsteiner.
Although Vienna top the Austrian league, they have lost four of their last six matches and only lead Graz on goal difference.
They also crashed out of the qualifying rounds of the Champions League against Marseille early in the season.
"Kronsteiner will now take over our coaching affairs and manage the team modeled on the English example, where clubs are guided by a sporting manager," club president Frank Stronach said.
