Coach Mourinho confirms departure
GELSENKIRCHEN, Germany -- Porto coach Jose Mourinho guided his team to Champions League glory, then said it was "almost for sure" his last game in charge of the Portuguese champions.
"This is almost for sure my last match in charge of Porto, but I think in two years we have done great.
" I have to keep working and try to get success in my next step," said Mourinho, after Porto beat Monaco 3-0 in Gelsenkirchen.
Mourinho has been repeatedly linked with Italian Claudio Ranieri's job as manager of Premier League club Chelsea and asked if he would be joining a club in England Mourinho said: "It's the country that I would like to go to.
"I'm very proud of what we did but the time to leave has arrived. It's the best way to bow out. It was 2-1/2 years and it was fantastic, absolutely fantastic. We won everything," he added, after his team had gone one better after last year's UEFA Cup success.
"In the next few days I will decide everything. I have to speak to Porto because I still have a contract with them but I have to move. My desire is to leave."
Meanwhile, Monaco coach Didier Deschamps was generous in defeat. "Porto were a better team than us.
"They had more experience and for a final that's very important. I am just disappointed for the players who have done very well during a long, long season but didn't win anything."
