Fair play as Osters win UEFA place
GENEVA, Switzerland -- Swedish side Osters IF have been awarded a place in the first qualifying round for next season's UEFA Cup through the fair play league, officials said.
The Swedish FA topped the fair play rankings and Osters were awarded the European spot even though they finished fourth in their fair play league.
They claimed their place as the three clubs ahead of them, Elfsborg, Djurgarden and Hammarby, have already qualified for UEFA competitions.
Two additional places in the first qualifying round will be awarded at a draw on June 8 at half time during the Euro 2004 under-21 final in Bochum, Germany.
Clubs entered in UEFA's Fair Play draw:
Esbjerg (Denmark), Brann (Norway), Charlton Athletic (England), Freiburg (Germany), Cork City (Ireland), Lahti (Finland), Mallorca (Spain), Teuta (Albania), Mika (Armenia), Throttur Reykjavik (Iceland) and a representative from the Ukrainian league, which finishes on June 19.
