Robinho's double puts Santos clear
SAO PAULO, Brazil -- Striker Robinho scored twice as Santos routed bottom club Parana 5-1 to become clear leaders in the Brazilian championship.
Santos, last year's runners-up and 2002 national champions, have 44 points from 24 matches.
Palmeiras moved second by beating Atletico Mineiro with an injury-time goal, while Ponte Preta fell to third after losing to Corinthians on Saturday.
Robinho, who has scored six goals in the last seven rounds, put Santos ahead with a shot from inside the box after two minutes at Vila Belmiro Stadium.
The 20-year-old added his second after exchanging passes with Basilio in the 62nd.
Basilio also scored twice in what was Santos' second consecutive victory. He netted with a header in the 40th, and then with a right-footer in second-half injury-time.
Defender Leo flicked a shot over goalkeeper Flavio to add Santos' other goal in the 30th, while midfielder Christian scored for Parana with a low shot from outside the box in the 74th.
Robinho is the tournament's second-leading scorer with 13 goals. He trails Goias' Alex, who has 15.
Striker Osmar scored the winner with a header in injury-time as Palmeiras beat Atletico Mineiro 2-1 to move closer to Santos.
It was Osmar's third goal in two games with Palmeiras. The striker had scored twice in his debut last Thursday to help the four-time national champions pick up a 3-2 come-from-behind win against Fluminense.
