LONDON, England -- Manchester United midfielder Ryan Giggs has returned to the Wales squad for the World Cup qualifiers against England and Poland next month.
Giggs was suspended for the disappointing draws against Azerbaijan (1-1) and Northern Ireland (2-2) but his return for the England match at Old Trafford, his home ground, on October 9 is a huge boost for outgoing manager Mark Hughes.
Giggs, who has 48 caps for his country, was unavailable for the first two Group Six qualifiers after UEFA handed him a two-match ban following an elbowing incident in last season's Euro 2004 playoff defeat by Russia.
Birmingham's combative midfielder Robbie Savage is also in the squad, although he will be suspended for the match against England after he was sent off in the match against Northern Ireland.
Wales, who have not qualified for a major finals since the 1958 World Cup, last played England 20 years ago when they won 1-0 in Wrexham.
Hughes is in charge of his last two matches after taking over at Premier League club Blackburn Rovers on September 15.
