BUCHAREST, Romania -- Universitatea Craiova executive president Pavel Badea has taken over as coach of the troubled Romanian First Division club.
Craiova, who had boldly predicted at the start of the season they would win the league and cup double, have made multiple managerial changes this year.
"We are a boat which is filling with water. All of us, the team's leaders, players and supporters are responsible for Craiova's failure and now I ask everybody for help we don't drown," said Badea.
The club's previous coach Mircea Rednic quit on Monday, just 10 days after angry fans forced his reinstatement.
Rednic had been fired by the club's owner Adrian Mititelu, who himself then quit just days after buying the club. Craiova are 14th in the 16-team league having won once in their eight games.
