Van Nistelrooy back in Dutch squad

ZEIST, Netherlands -- Ruud van Nistelrooy, Philip Cocu and Arjen Robben have been recalled to the Dutch squad for this month's World Cup qualifiers against Macedonia and Finland.

The trio missed the Netherlands' 2-0 win over the Czech Republic in their opening Group One match.

Chelsea winger Robben has yet to decide if he will join up with the squad next week after suffering another foot injury.

"I spoke with Robben and he will let me know on Monday if he will join my squad on Tuesday when we gather in Noordwijk," said coach Marco van Basten. "We will take the decision after deliberating with Chelsea's coach and doctor."

Van Nistelrooy is suspended for the game against Macedonia on October 9 after receiving a two-match ban for insulting Swedish referee Andres Frisk following the Netherlands' Euro 2004 semi-final defeat by Portugal.

The Manchester United striker is available, however, for the home match against Finland on October 13.

PSV Eindhoven midfielder Cocu replaces team mate Andre Ooijer, who is sidelined with a hamstring injury.

Newcastle United striker Patrick Kluivert and Clarence Seedorf of AC Milan were left out of the 21-man squad.

"Patrick Kluivert is a luxury problem," Van Basten added. "We have so many good in-form strikers and it is of no use picking six or seven.

"Patrick is doing well at the moment after a long absence and it is his job to give us a tough job selecting the squad."

Reserve goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg pulled out of the squad hours after it was announced because of a knee injury sustained in a training session. Van Basten has added PSV's Edwin Zoetebier to replace the Ajax goalkeeper.
