LOME, Togo -- Four people died and eight were injured in a stadium crush after Togo's World Cup qualifier with Mali, a government statement said.

The incident brings to seven the number of people killed at African stadiums over the weekend.

Three fans were trampled to death in Guinea's capital Conakry as they sought to buy tickets for the tie with Morocco.

In Lome, witnesses said the crush happened when fans panicked at a power cut in the stadium shortly after the end of the African Zone Group One match, which Togo won 1-0. One Malian national was among the dead, the statement said.

A special cabinet meeting was held on Monday and President Gnassingbe Eyadema cancelled a planned trip to Niger, officials added.
