Beckham hopes to play against Germany in the next World Cup final

MADRID, Spain -- David Beckham will return to the Real Madrid squad for Sunday's league game against Albacete after almost a month out recovering from fractured ribs, the club has announced.

It will be Beckham's first appearance since picking up his injury playing for England in a World Cup qualifier against Wales last month.

The England captain is now training at the same rate as his team mates, the club's website reported.

But Spanish media said he was unlikely to play the entire match.

Real hope to have the midfielder at peak fitness for the key Primera Liga match against arch-rivals and league leaders Barcelona at the end of next week.

Beckham has told the German media that he is dreaming of captaining England to 2006 World Cup glory with a victory over hosts Germany in the final.

Beckham, 29, has won the Champions League and several English Premiership titles with Manchester United but longs to win something in an England shirt before hanging up his boots.

"Playing against Germany in the 2006 World Cup final would be the highlight of my career," Beckham said in an interview with daily Bild. "England's matches against Germany are always a heated affair."

Beckham has fond memories of his last visit to Germany back in 2001 when England won 5-1 in Munich in a vital qualifier for the 2002 World Cup.

"The 5-1 win in Munich was a milestone in my career as I was England captain and people celebrated the win for days on end."

Beckham added: "I want to play football for five more years."
