MADRID, Spain (Reuters) -- Real Madrid president Florentino Perez said on Tuesday the club would consider bids for out-of-favor striker Fernando Morientes.
At the same time Perez confirmed Real were keen to acquire an option to buy Brazilian striker Robinho at the end of the season.
But he rejected media speculation that fullback Roberto Carlos had put in a transfer request after being dropped at the weekend.
"I can confirm that I had a meeting with Morientes and his agent this morning and we agreed that given that he has not played much this season we would study any future offers," Perez said at a news conference to announce the appointment of Arrigo Sacchi as the club's director of football.
"No one has said anything yet but if an offer does arrive we will consider it carefully, although any deal has to be compatible not only with the interests of the player but also with those of the club."
Both Liverpool and Monaco, where Morientes played on loan last season, are reported to be interested in signing the player during the January transfer window.
On Santos striker Robinho, whose mother was released earlier this week after a 40-day kidnap ordeal, Perez said: "There are no new developments.
"We have an interest in acquiring an option to buy him in June next year, but we did not want to take any further action because of the unfortunate recent events.

"Robinho is one of those great players who has that extra bit of magic that we think is important for Real Madrid. We will be talking more about the matter as of next week."
Sporting director Emilio Butragueno admitted that Brazilian fullback Roberto Carlos was unhappy at being dropped for Real's last match against Racing Santander.
"It's true I spoke with him after the game and it's true that he was unhappy about not playing," said Butragueno. "As a former footballer myself that is something I understand completely and that is all I can say about the matter."
Perez added: "Roberto Carlos is under contract, we renewed his deal recently and are delighted with him.
"He is one of the great players in the world and we are not contemplating anything else."
The world's most famous left back joined Real in 1996 and his contract runs to 2007.
He has demanded a move several times in the past over Real's refusal to put him on the same wages as top-earners Raul, Luis Figo, Zinedine Zidane, Ronaldo and David Beckham who all pick up 6 million euros ($8.04 million) free of tax a year.
