BLACKBURN, England -- Blackburn Rovers have released France veteran Youri Djorkaeff who had been on a short-term contract with English Premiership club.
The French World Cup winner was Mark Hughes' first signing as Rovers manager and arrived as a free agent in late September, having been released by Bolton.
He signed on a short-term contract until the end of December and will now leave Ewood Park by mutual agreement when that deal expires.
The 36-year-old striker made three Premiership appearances for Rovers in October before suffering a hamstring injury in training that has kept him sidelined since.
Former France midfielder Christian Karembeu is discussing a move back to Nantes, his first professional team.
Karembeu, currently playing for struggling Swiss side Servette, has agreed to join in principle during the transfer window, but financial details are still being discussed.
Karembeu, 34, played for Nantes between 1991 and 1995, winning the Ligue 1 title in his last season with the Canaries.
The New Caledonia-born midfielder also had spells with Sampdoria, Real Madrid, Middlesbrough and Olympiakos Piraeus.
A member of France's World Cup-winning squad in 1998, Karembeu has played 53 times for his country.
Trochowski on move
Bayern Munich talent Piotr Trochowski is ready to join Bundesliga rivals VfB Stuttgart during the winter break.
"He is ready in principle to come to Stuttgart," said spokesman Oliver Schraft, confirming a report from the local daily Stuttgarter Zeitung daily from the same day.
Trochowski, 20, is under contract in Munich until 2007. The main aspect of the transfer talks will be whether Trochowski will be sold by Munich or join Stuttgart on a loan deal similar to that of Germany defender Philipp Lahm.
Trochowski has played 13 Bundesliga matches for Munich, but has not been selected by coach Felix Magath this season.
