LONDON, England -- South Africa captain Aaron Mokoena has joined English Premier League side Blackburn Rovers in a £600,000 deal from Belgian club Racing Genk.
The 24-year-old, who will move in the January transfer window, becomes coach Mark Hughes' first signing since taking over in September.
"Aaron is the captain of South Africa and can play in central defence or the centre of midfield," Hughes told the official Blackburn website
"We have agreed a deal with Racing Club Genk of Belgium and with the player himself," Hughes added.
"He has impressed us during training. He is a great athlete with pace, a good organiser, a very vocal character and he will be a good addition."
