(CNN) -- In recognition of its international services to the business travel industry, CNN has been given a special award for its monthly show "CNN Business Traveller."
The reason for the award: "For the creation and production of a global television program helping to identify and explain key corporate travel issues to a wider audience."
The show's presenter Richard Quest was also recognized as "Business travel media personality of the year," at the recent Carlson Wagonlit Business Travel Journalism Awards in London.
"Business travel is a multi-billion dollar global business. It is one of the highest items of expenditure for most companies...regardless of their size," says Jim Tweedie of travel management firm Carlson Wagonlit Travel.
"It is a complex and fast-changing industry and, like any professional discipline, it needs its experts. And, it needs a strong, independent and knowledgeable media."
"The media plays an important part in the business travel mix and they deserve our recognition and encouragement -- and that is why we launched these awards," explains Tweedie.
The aim of the awards is to encourage growth in the coverage of business travel, as well as raise the standards of coverage and reward those individuals and publications that have achieved excellence.
"Business travelers are an important element of CNN's audience and we receive a lot of support and interest from this sector," says executive producer Jeff Nathenson.
"CNN is the channel of choice for regular business travelers so it is particularly gratifying to be recognised by colleagues in the industry for our contribution."
"CNN Business Traveller," sponsored by InterContinental Hotels and Resorts is a monthly programme that focuses on the issues that matter to the business traveler.
From Kazakhstan to Las Vegas, and from long haul flights to luxury cruisers, the team has crossed the globe tracking down issues that affect the executive on the road.
Issues addressed include expatriate lifestyles, emigration and travel trends.
