5 dead as Kashmir bomb hits bus
SRINAGAR, Indian-controlled Kashmir (CNN) -- A suicide car bomb has exploded as a bus carrying Indian soldiers passed by in the Indian side of Kashmir, killing five Indian soldiers and wounding dozens, Indian police have said.
At least 30 soldiers and 15 civilians were injured in the blast, police said.
Police said the small car swerved into the bus after overtaking several other vehicles on the two-lane highway, then exploded.
Police said it was the first time a suicide car bomb was used to target a moving military vehicle in Kashmir.
The bus was on a road in Pattan, Kashmir, about 20 miles north of Srinagar.
It has been shut down for the day while the investigation is conducted.
The bus was headed to an Indian Army camp in northern Kashmir, police said.
