The United States has set up a toll-free number to call for information about American citizens in the region: 1-888-407-4747.
Australia has set up a toll-free number to call for information about Australian citizens in the affected areas: 1800-802 214. There is another hotline for Australians affected by the tsunamis: 1800-057 111.
