(CNN) -- Billionaire Indian industrialist Om Prakash Jindal, 74-year-old chairman of the Jindal Group, has been killed in a helicopter crash, Indian news media say.

Jindal, who was also the Power Minister for Haryana state, died on Thursday at Gangoh near Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh state, according to the India Times news service.

Haryana Agriculture Minister Surinder Singh, son of former Haryana Chief Minister Bansi Lal, also died in the crash, along with the pilot. The two others on the helicopter, a security officer and Jindal relative Ved Goyal, were injured.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav said the party was returning from Chandigarh to New Delhi in the Jindal Group's new helicopter when the accident occurred.

Jindal was the father of Congress MP Naveen Jindal, who runs Jindal Steel & Power Ltd. Three other sons, Prithviraj, Sajjan and Rattan, look after other arms of the Jindal Group, which operates in the iron and steel sector.
