ALERT! THE SIMPSONS (Fox, TV-PG-LV) What do you give on the 350th anniversary, again? Wood? Paper? Or a hurt-Homer episode?
When a roof leak calls into question his fitness as head of the household (for roughly the 350th time), Homer takes refuge at Moe's and finds himself equally despised (not to mention replaced at the bar by returning guest Stephen Hawking).
All this rejection drives Homey into the arms of new friend Ray Magini (Ray Romano), a roofer so eerily Homer-compatible, he may be too good to be true. ("We think alike, we act alike, we finish each other sandwiches!" gushes the doting d'oh-boy.)
The faithful have long since stopped expecting any sort of long-arc emotional coherence from "The Simpsons," and this episode is no exception -- though it does contain perhaps the best joke ever written on the subject of shingles. -- Scott Brown

10:30-11AM
OFFICEMATE ALERT!: THE SUITE WITH DAVE KARGER (AMC) EW's very own dreamboat of a pundit asks the "Kingdom of Heaven" cast all the burning questions.
8:30-9PM
SEASON PREMIERE: AMERICAN DAD (Fox) Having kicked off with a sneak preview after the Super Bowl, this cartoon series from Seth McFarlane is now paired with his resuscitated "Family Guy." Stan Smith is a CIA agent who must juggle his antiterrorist work and raising his family, which includes an alien from Area 51 and a talking goldfish. Did we mention this is from the "Family Guy" guy?
9-9:30PM
FAMILY GUY (Fox, TV-14-DLSV) Props to the crazy, obsessive fans who harassed Fox into bringing back this series!
9-10:02PM
DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES (ABC, TV-PG-L) Tom's ex-girlfriend gets a job at his firm, and Carlos and his creepy goatee finally go off to jail.
9-11PM
RIDING THE BUS WITH MY SISTER (CBS, TV-PG-D) Rosie O'Donnell plays Andie MacDowell's developmentally challenged sister. Which apparently means wearing mismatched pastel sneakers, kooky hats and short-shorts.
10-11PM
CROSSING JORDAN (NBC TV-14) A knocked-up nun gets into trouble. Very "Agnes of God" (sans Meg Tilly).
